DDA vice chairman, Madhukar Gupta has been
transferred to the Centre as Secretary, Fertilisers.
Secy Fertilisers!!! he is supposed to be 'urban
expert' (see, below, HT report of feb 2004 when he
tookover). good for urban buffaloes, they can use him
as single-window on space-n-dung issues.
New DDA boss has you on his mind

DDA'S new vice-chairman, Madhukar Gupta, hopes to make
the agency a "responsive and people oriented"
Gupta, a 1971 batch IAS officer and an expert in urban
development, took charge on Tuesday. He said his stint
as joint secretary in the Urban Development Ministry
had helped him understand Delhi's urban development
He has also served as vice-chairman of Lucknow
Development Authority and was resident director at the
India Investment Centre in Abu Dhabi. An officer of
the Uttaranchal cadre, Gupta was also principal
secretary, UP. Before taking over as DDA
vice-chairman, he was additional secretary in the
Ministry of Mines.
Known for being straightforward and dynamic, Gupta
said he was determined to ensure that DDA delivers
quick, quality services.
Gupta replaces Anil Baijal, who is now Home Secretary.
Baijal had taken over the DDA just after the land scam
knocked off four top officials of the organisation
